How does Message On Hold work? Most telephone systems have the option to connect an external device for Music On Hold. This is usually a CD player, which keeps the cost down and means that the CD can be changed easily if needed. The CD player plays constantly. When a call is placed on hold, the telephone system connects the CD player through to the caller. The caller hears whichever part of the CD is playing at that time. For more information on this, see our FAQ section. You can choose to play the entire CD, a single track, or a selection of tracks, simply by using the 'repeat' and 'program' functions on the CD player.
